“I don’t need it”: Butler gave away ECFs MVP award

There was a lot of hype surrounding the Eastern Conference Finals MVP title because in the end it was Jimmy Butler who took home the trophy after leading the Miami Heat to an epic victory over the Boston Celtics. There were some people who were campaigning for Caleb Martin to take the title, but in the end Butler did enough to beat his Heat teammate.

Apparently, however, Butler could care less about winning the MVP trophy. When asked where the silver piece was right now, the South Beach talisman was brutally honest with his answer:

“With my dad. I gave it to him. I don’t need it.” said Butler.

Jimmy Butler is not disrespected here. He appreciates the honor of being named MVP of the series, but in the end he doesn’t really care. He is here to win it all. And, until he gets his hands on an NBA title, Butler still won’t have achieved his ultimate goal. And so, that is exactly what he intends to do now that he has another opportunity to clinch that elusive first championship.
