Matas Buzelis, likely first pick in 2024, chose the G-League

Matas Buzelis is the clearest talent in the Draft 2024 class. Born in Chicago but with clear Lithuanian roots (and in fact he also has a Lithuanian passport), the 2004 class played last season at Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas. In his future, however, there is no NCAA, despite offers from the most prestigious colleges. Buzelis announced in recent hours that next year, theoretically his last before the NBA, in the G-League Ignite.

The G-League Ignites have been a team that is a very viable alternative to college for a few years now. In recent seasons, talents such as Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Dyson Daniels, MarJon Beauchamp and this year Scoot Henderson, who could be the second overall call-up to the 2023 Draft, have played for them before the draft.
