Giannis Antetokounmpo launches WhatsApp into the world of cinema

WhatsApp has decided to make its entry into the world of entertainment. As Variety reports, WhatsApp will release its first project later this month: a short film starring Milwaukee Bucks phenom Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The film will last only 12 minutes and the title will be ‘Naija Odyssey,’ in which the Greek “tells his story by reconciling his roots, place of birth, and sense of belonging to cross-cultural worlds.”, according to WhatsApp’s description. Recall that #34 has decided to sign a very very important sponsorship deal with the messaging app in February 2022.

“Naija Odyssey is a story that reinforces how WhatsApp helps us embrace our multifaceted lives.” Vivian Odior, Global Head of Marketing at WhatsApp, told Variety. The short film will premiere on Prime Video on Sept. 21. And it will be released on WhatsApp’s social accounts, including its YouTube channel, also according to the news outlet.

This is a small step for Giannis Antetokounmpo but a very big one for WhatsApp, which is thus launching itself fully into the world of entertainment.
