Fontecchio returns to play more than 20 minutes — but the Jazz get 25

Tonight Simone Fontecchio finally returned to play significant minutes after several months away but the Utah Jazz lost by 25 to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Consider that in the last 5 games in which he had entered the parquet (14/01, 18/01, 23/01, 25/01 and 08/02), the former Baskonia and Alba Berlin guy had played a total of 26 minutes. Tonight he was on the parquet for almost 24, 23:37.

Numerically he put up 9 points, the result, however, of a not very good 4 of 11 from the field and especially a very bad 1 of 7 from long distance, his specialty. Of course, it is not easy to play so little and be so ready right away. It’s normal that if you spend more time watching others play than you do playing, you can’t be at the top at the first useful opportunity. To the nearly 10 points he also added 1 rebound and 2 assists.

In short, unfortunately, even tonight, despite having so much space, Simone Fontecchio was not able to prove that he deserves more minutes on the court with the Utah Jazz.

He will most likely finish the season with the Salt Lake City franchise, which now seems to be pulling its oars in the boat to get as far back in the standings as possible so as to get the top pick at the 2023 Draft, and then see what to do this summer.
