The Three-team trade between Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves which seemed well underway in recent hours. From what has emerged, in the trade Russell Westbrook would end up at the Jazz (with an attached buyout), Mike Conley at the T’Wolves, and D’Angelo Russell would return after many years to the Lakers.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, it is precisely on D-Loading that the fate of the deal depends. Or rather, on the Timberwolves and the price they will make for Russell in terms of players and especially draft picks. Minnesota would be negotiating for him on other fronts as well, so if they find a better offer, the trade could blow up. Instead, the Lakers and Jazz would already agree on players and picks for them.
ESPN Sources: Three-team trade is largely hinging on how Minnesota values D’Angelo Russell in potential deal and their return of draft assets. Lakers and Jazz have significant deal structure in place, but Minnesota has been engaged elsewhere on Russell too.
