Fontecchio is in the sights of two major NBA contenders ahead of trade deadline

The NBA trade deadline is only 2 days away and two contenders are interested in acquiring Utah Jazz wing Simone Fontecchio.

According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, the Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns consider Fontecchio a potential trade target before the NBA trade deadline. Fontecchio makes just over $3 million per season and is in the final year of his two-year deal, offering a comfortable contract for the two teams.

In his second season in the NBA after arriving from Europe, Fontecchio is averaging 9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 23.2 minutes of play per game with a 57.9 percent shooting percentage from the field, according to Cleaning the Glass.

Fontecchio would provide depth to the Celtics and Suns’ bench. The Italian will become a free agent after the season, becoming a prized roster piece in the offseason.

Let’s see if indeed the Arizona franchise or the Massachusetts franchise will move to try to sign the former Baskonia, ALBA Berlin, Olimpia Milano and Virtus Bologna under contract.

The fact remains that we are delighted that there is all this interest around the 1995 class who is deserving all this and much more. Congratulations Simone, keep up the good work!
