Edmond Sumner believes Durant can come to play in EuroLeague

It was 2019 when Kevin Durant, during his show “How hungry are you?”, told current FC Bayern Munich center Serge Ibaka that spending his last season in the EuroLeague would not be a bad idea.

“I would love to play my last year at Barça. The EuroLeague is the second best league in the world.”, KD said at the time.

He then visited Mike James and Monaco in the EuroLeague playoffs in 2022 after an invitation from his former teammate.

Now another former teammate of KD’s in Brooklyn is set to make his EuroLeague debut. Zalgiris Kaunas guard Edmond Sumner is preparing for his first EuroLeague appearance Tuesday night when Zalgiris travels to Berlin to face ALBA.

When asked if Sumner would extend a similar invitation to Durant for a EuroLeague game in Kaunas, Sumner responded optimistically.

“He might show up.”, Sumner told Jonas Leksas of BasketNews. “I like KD. He has been a great teammate and a great person. We hope he will come here. He has always said that when he is done with the NBA, he wants to come here and play. Let’s see if that will really happen. I believe it, though, because he loves basketball, like it’s the only thing he cares about.”
