Doncic and Jokic “pushed” Campazzo to Red Star

Facundo Campazzo has returned to Europe and will continue his career with Red Star Belgrade, and Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic have something to do with this choice.

After signing a contract until the end of the 2023-24 season, the Argentine joined his new team’s training sessions and gave his first impressions as a Crvena Zvezda player.

“So far so good. I am very happy to be here. The teammates, staff and coach have welcomed me with so much love and kindness and I can’t wait to start playing.” said Campazzo.

He let it be known that his former NBA teammates Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic told him about the Belgrade team:

“They really like Red Star. Both of them. Jokic told me more about Belgrade, the best place to live, and he helped me a lot in this decision. Luka sent me a message and congratulated me. He was happy and wanted me to play for this team.”

Welcoming him to Red Star was a familiar face, compatriot Luca Vildoza:

“He was one of the reasons why I am here. To readjust to EuroLega games, having a friend here is very important.”

As a reminder, however, until further notice, Facundo Campazzo cannot play in the EuroLega with the Serbs due to a ban he received from the competition.
