Damian Lillard swears eternal love to Portland: he’ll stay there until he’s 37

Damian Lillard has sworn eternal love to the Portland Trail Blazers and confirmed it yet again by signing a rich two-year contract with the Oregon franchise:

“The Portland Trail Blazers and NBA star Damian Lillard are close to a maximum two-year contract extension, multiple @TheAthletic @Stadium sources say . The new deal would bring Lillard’s contract to run through the end of the 2026-27 season.”

Clearly Damian Lillard has decided to really swear eternal love to Blazers. At the end of the 2026-2027 season he will be a full 37 years old because we are talking about a class of 1990. He will have basically given everything or almost everything at that point. Portland has five years to become really competitive and allow Dame to win at least one ring.

It must be said that the numbers are insane for what will be an over-35: $120 million over 3″2 years.

Only Portland could have made him an offer of this magnitude. It has to be said, though, that he never wanted to force his hand to leave. He was always super professional, from Day 1, and always gave his all to the cause.
