Ever since he stepped on an NBA court in a Sacramento Kings jersey in his rookie year, current Indiana Pacers starting guard Tyrese Haliburton has consistently displayed his nightly prowess. Not only is Haliburton a shooter capable of hitting from all angles of the court, but he also stands out as one of the league’s leading point guards. He currently leads the NBA in assists, averaging 12.2 points per game. Interestingly, Haliburton attributes some of his basketball knowledge to an unconventional source: NBA 2K and the PlayStation.
“Honestly, most of my basketball knowledge comes from video games.”, he told Rob Mahoney of The Ringer. “When you’re playing 2K and you’re in that camera angle where you can see everything in front of you, sometimes I think just like that.”
During the 2023-24 season, Haliburton’s performances were nothing short of spectacular. In nine games he totaled 23.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 12.2 assists, a league record.
This suggests that Haliburton is poised for another outstanding season, adding to his previous successes, including NBA All-Star honors and selection to Team USA. In short, if you want to be a phenom, do what Haliburton did: play NBA 2K on the PlayStation.
