I Boston Celtics probably won’t make any big moves between now and tomorrow, the day of the trade deadline, but they did just now close a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies to bolster the frontcourt. Coming to the green-and-white is Xavier Tillman, a class of 1999 center in his fourth year in the NBA. This year, aided by Memphis’ many injuries, the long man is playing over 20′ average with 6.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
As part of the trade, Boston gives up two second-round draft picks to the Grizzlies: one 2027 via Atlanta and the other 2030 via Dallas. Tillman, who will be a free agent next summer, will be the backup to Porzingis and Horford.
The Celtics are sending a 2027 second via Atlanta and a 2030 second via Dallas to the Grizzlies, sources tell ESPN. Boston gets Tillman, a young, versatile frontcourt player who gives them some depth for a championship run. https://t.co/29KABsBums
