Former NBA guard Ben McLemore is making headlines after being arrested on charges of first-degree rape and other sex crime allegations. The former Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers guard is now breaking his silence with an elaborate statement.
McLemore addressed X on Thursday to shed light on his shocking rape allegations, as reported by Shams Charania:
“The allegations made against me in court yesterday seem to allege that in 2021 I had sex with a woman who was too drunk to give her consent. I am not accused of using physical force to rape someone. Rather, I am accused of engaging in sexual activity with a person who now claims she was not consenting. I did not rape this woman. And I am not sexually violent. I never pursued a relationship when I realized the woman was not interested in me and acted of her own free will.”, McLemore stated. “The allegation dates back to October 2021, when I was playing in Portland. It will take time to find out the facts. At the moment the prosecution has not provided my lawyers with any reports or evidence.”.
“My lawyers and I cooperated fully with the investigation. I fulfilled every request made to me in an immediate and professional manner.”, McLemore added.
“The truth will come to light. I am confident that we will prevail and that my name will be cleared. Thank you all for your support. I appreciate all of you and am confident that things will turn out as they should.”.
