Yesterday a jubilation of Ja Morant in the final game he won against New Orleans had generated some critical comments. In particular, the star of the Memphis Grizzlies, disqualified for 25 games for repeatedly displaying guns on their social media, appeared to have mimicked first two guns and then a bazooka. Several users on social had pointed out the gesture, claiming that Morant had learned nothing from the issue. Chandler Parsons, a former NBA player, had harshly criticized Morant: “What more needs to happen for you and your family and friends to learn a lesson?”.
Apparently, however, this is not the case. In the past few hours Bones Hyland, point guard for the Clippers, and other X users have corrected the initial perception. The one improvised by Ja Morant would in fact be a popular dance in Louisiana, particularly in New Orleans. The player’s would therefore have been an attempt to mock the Pelicans by exulting in a dance typical of their own city.

Morant himself after the match had commented on the dance on X, with the slogan “You gotta rock ya hips.”, or “You have to move your hips.”, typically juxtaposed with this very dance.

For the love of God…Ja Morant wasn’t doing air pistols or a bazooka. He was doing a NEW ORLEANS dance in NEW ORLEANS.
Folks gotta chill. The locals there new exactly what it was. https://t.co/x9sYG6Gtv5 pic.twitter.com/x7IJojODfY
