Zach LaVine seems destined to wear the jersey of the Los Angeles Lakers, leaving the Chicago Bulls in the coming weeks.
The possible obstacles to the success of the deal would be only two, namely the yellowviola’s preference for two more Bulls, DeMar DeRozan e Alex Caurso. The whole affair was reconstructed by The Athletic.
According to the specialized portal, Chicago would be happy to get rid of LaVine’s 215 million total contract, valid until 2027. The Lakers would like an element capable of improving their offense and would be ready to let D’Angelo Russell leave, along with some youngsters (Max Christie and Jalen Hood-Schifino) and at least one between Rui Hachimura and Gabe Vincent to make the trade square from a salary perspective. Orchestrating the deal is Rich Paul, agent for the former Minnesota, Anthony David and LeBron James, the de facto hidden director of the trade.
The reality, however, is that LA management would prefer to take DeMar DeRozan and welcome back Alex Caruso, who holds much more manageable contracts and is believed to be able to bring the same contribution as LaVine. DeRozan will expire at the end of the season while Caruso’s salary (guaranteed through 2025) is around 10 million annually.
