Simone Fontecchio and his start in the NBA: “The transition is difficult.”

Adjusting to the NBA is not always easy, as Utah Jazz’s new swingman, our very Italian Simone Fontecchio, is discovering.

According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, Fontecchio is trying to find his place in the Jazz’s early days of training camp.

“The transition is difficult but I’m getting used to it. I’m getting to know the guys and the guys are getting to know me, this week was good anyway.”.

Simone Fontecchio is set to play his first season in the NBA. The 26-year-old signed a two-year, $6.5 million total contract with the Utah Jazz this offseason. The Italian has been playing for our national team since he was 16 years old and represented Italy at the 2021 Olympics when we managed to reach the Quarterfinals, as we all remember so well.

His last performance on the international stage with the Azzurri came just a few weeks ago at EuroBasket 2022. Fontecchio emerged as one of the tournament’s best players. He showed Jazz fans a glimpse of what he is capable of. He scored an average of 19.4 points per game and shot 45.1 percent from three-point range in the competition.
