Tom Brady announces he, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes & Josh Allen will participate in ‘The Match’

Tom Brady has made it a habit to make fans aware of upcoming breaking news by using cryptic tweets. He did it again on Sunday. Brady sent a message to his fellow NFL quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen on Twitter. The tweet simply contained within it the eyes emoji, followed by all of their handles.

Naturally, this sent the sports world into a mini-panic, as NFL fans who saw the tweet wondered, “What does this mean?” Well, it didn’t take long for Brady to reveal exactly at what he was hinting. Brady announced Monday afternoon on Twitter that he, Rodgers, Mahomes and Allen would participate in “The Match,” an annual head-to-head golf matchup between some of the world’s best athletes. Brady will be teaming up with Rodgers while Allen and Mahomes will be paired together.

“The Match” first began as a head-to-head matchup between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. It has since become a staple of Turner Sports’ summer programming, with Brady, Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Steph Curry, Charles Barkley, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau and more competing in it over the years. The latest iteration of “The Match” will be the sixth in the series. It will mark Brady’s third appearance in the series, which will rank second-most in the event behind only Mickelson (four). Rodgers will make his second appearance while Mahomes and Allen will each be appearing for the first time.
