Will Vasilije Micic sign in NBA thanks to … Nikola Jokic?

Nikola Jokic is undoubtedly one of the greatest European players in NBA history. The reigning league MVP has some affinity for players from his home nation-understandably-which could lead the Denver Nuggets to pursue the European star, Vasilije Micic.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, Jokic has been a central figure in the Nuggets’ reported interest in Micic. The 28-year-old point guard was originally drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2014, but has yet to make his NBA debut. Micic’s draft rights were traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2020 as part of the deal to take Al Horford. Right now, however, it appears Denver is hot on the heels of Jokic’s compatriot:

Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic remains a hot name on the market. OKC holds his draft rights and Nikola Jokic is said to be a driving factor in Denver’s interest in getting the EuroLeague MVP. San Antonio, Milwaukee and Chicago have also been mentioned as legitimate suitors.

As the rumor above states, the Nuggets have some competition for Micic. The San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks, and Chicago Bulls have also all been linked to the Serbian star, so Jokic and co. will have their work cut out for them to convince him to choose them.
