Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James wants to own a slice of a potential NBA franchise in Las Vegas for one simple reason: “It would be a good deal.”.
“It makes sense.”, LeBron said after making his 2023-24 preseason debut at T-Mobile Arena. The Lakers were able to beat the Brooklyn Nets 129-126. LeBron finished with 10 points and five assists in 17 minutes.
LeBron was among the few Lakers in the NBA in attendance to watch the Las Vegas Aces win Game 1 of the WNBA Finals against the New York Liberty at nearby MichelobULTRA Arena.
“Of course there are the Raiders, the Golden Knights and the Aces. F1 is coming up very soon. All-Star Weekend has been here a few times. There’s the NBA Summer League … I think the addition of an NBA franchise here would only add to the momentum that there is in this city. I think it’s just a matter of time, and I hope to be part of that time.”.

A year ago, during a preseason visit by the Lakers to Las Vegas, LeBron publicly declared his interest in bringing a team to the desert, invoking the commissioner: “I want a team here Adam, thank you.”
