Tonight Simone Fontecchio showed he can make a difference in the NBA in the contest between Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans. Coach Will Hardy decided to give the Italian confidence by lining him up from the two-ball, and he responded with 10 points and 3 rebounds in 25 minutes and 38 seconds. He did not shoot with excellent percentages because he finished with 3 of 8 from the field but still put up 2 important bombs and gave 1 stoppage to an opponent. HERE the highlights of his competition.
The match ended 105 to 100 for the Salt Lake City lineup, which accomplished a half miracle in the fourth period, winning it 37 to 23, thanks to excellent teamwork, as evidenced by the 6 players in double figures (including precisely the former Baskonia and Alba Berlin). Two excellent Brandon Ingram and Jordan Hawkins were not enough for the Pels, with 26 and 25 points scored, respectively.
As always, we’ll see if tonight’s Simone Fontecchio contest between Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans was a bolt out of the blue or if the Salt Lake City team will give continuity to the Italian, perhaps repurposing him more times in the quintet, if these are the results.
