Vasilije Micic last summer had chosen the NBA adventure after two MVP titles won in the EuroLeague with Efes. So far, however, the Serbian point guard’s American experience has not gone well: only 30 appearances with 12′ average with the Oklahoma City Thunder jersey, scoring 3.3 points per game. On the day of the trade deadline Micic was traded to the Charlotte Hornets, for Gordon Hayward who ended up in OKC.
Last night the Serbian then made his debut with Charlotte against Memphis, immediately playing his best game of his so far short NBA career. Micic stayed on the court 26′, a season high, and scored 18 points with 9 assists, both career-highs in the NBA, shooting 8/13 from the field.
Before this last game he had gone into double figures only once, stopping at 12 points a few weeks ago.
“He does things that can’t be taught, he knows where all his teammates are on the court.” said Steve Clifford, Charlotte coach.
30-year-old rookie Vasilije Micic was impressive in his Hornets debut: 18 PTS (8/13 FG) & 9 AST in 26 MINS off the bench.
