Trade between Memphis and Houston: Steven Adams, Victor Oladipo and choices

I Memphis Grizzlies and the Houston Rockets have concluded a trade that certainly will not affect this season, but could have a major impact on the next. The Grizzlies have traded away Steven Adams to the Rockets in exchange for Victor Oladipo and three future second-round draft picks (two from 2024 and one from 2025), as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski.

Adams had surgery on his right knee before the start of the season and will only recover for next year. Oladipo ruptured his patellar tendon last April; it is not certain that he will miss the entire season but he certainly will not be available for a few months. The new Memphis guard has played only 134 games in the past five seasons, in the 2022-23 season he scored 10.7 points on average. More importantly, Oladipo’s contract expires in the summer and will free up useful salary space to allow the Grizzlies to strengthen the roster.
