The Warriors and the VENDETTA on Tari Eason: Steph Curry’s exultation

A few days ago, when the Houston Rockets were on the rise and on an open streak of 11 consecutive wins, Tari Eason had remotely provoked the Golden State Warriors. On social media, the rookie had shouted: “Warriors, come out to play!”, quote from the film “The Warriors” 1979. The provocation lay in the fact that the Rockets, thanks to the aforementioned winning streak, were in danger of overtaking Golden State in tenth place by ousting it from the Play-in.

Reading the standings today, however, the story is the opposite: with the win in last night’s head-to-head clash, the Warriors have put 4 games between themselves and Houston, mortgaging qualification for the Play-in (though not yet mathematical). And as if that were not enough, Eason showed up at the game yesterday with a T-shirt bearing the same quote: “Warriors, come out to play!”. Draymond Green had already responded to the rookie via his own podcast, pointing out how ridiculous it was for a player who was even unavailable to mock them. Yesterday it was the turn of Steph Curry, who on the bench took three empty plastic bottles and stuck them on three fingers of his hand, slamming them one against the other. This is also a reference to the movie “The Warriors”: the same character who utters the phrase shown on Eason’s T-shirt, i.e., the antagonist of the story, makes this same gesture.

After the game, which ended 110-133 for Golden State, Klay Thompson showed his disappointment at Tari Eason’s provocation. “It was pretty embarrassing. Especially when you don’t even play … But you stay on the sidelines trolling. Brother, what are you doing?” said Klay in a press conference.
