The current NBA and WNBA leaders in 3-point shooting will reportedly clash for long-distance supremacy during All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis next month. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported earlier, citing sources, that Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry will face New York Liberty star — and close friend — Sabrina Ionescu in a 3-point shooting contest during the 2024 All-Star Game.

During a conversation with Brandin Podziemski before the Warriors’ game against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday at Chase Center, Steph Curry appeared to challenge Sabrina Ionescu in the 3-point contest from distance, and the Liberty guard responded on social media.

The looming clash between Curry and Ionescu comes about six months after the Liberty point guard challenged the Warriors guard to a shootout after winning the 3-point shooting contest at the WNBA’s All-Star Weekend.
Curry accepted the challenge last July and now seems intent on keeping his word.
Ionescu, who was born in Walnut Creek, California, and attended Miramonte High School in Orinda, California, led the WNBA in triples in the 2023 season with 128.
Curry entered Thursday’s Warriors game leading the NBA with 172 three-point shots in 38 contests and made five more in the first quarter against the Kings.
