Simone Fontecchio, on the night there was a debut in the NBA preseason

Tonight the Utah Jazz played and lost badly against the Toronto Raptors in Simone Fontecchio’s NBA pre-season debut.

From a numbers standpoint, it was not a night to remember for the former Baskonia and Berlin kid, given the only 8 minutes and 41 seconds on the court, with 5 points scored and 2 rebounds in the 114 to 82 loss. Emotionally, though, it was a night that will forever remain in the heart and mind of the Pescara native but who grew up basketball-wise and beyond in Bologna.

We can say that it was a real taste of the NBA for Simone Fontecchio., who clearly has to climb the ranks on a team that will try to lose as many games as possible, or so it seems, to get the No. 1 pick in the upcoming Draft.

Fontecchio’s goal this year is to acclimate himself to the NBA world and prove he can fit in at this level. There will then be time and a way to win, first it is important to accredit himself in this universe, always very wary of European players.

Let’s see if in the next friendly between Tuesday and Wednesday night, with a 4 a.m. two-ball, against Damian Lillard’s Portland Trail Blazers, he will get a few more minutes to show all his ballistic skills.
