Simone Fontecchio of the Utah Jazz made his “real” debut this NBA season (after a few minutes and little impact in the first game) against Kevin Durant’s Phoenix Suns.
The Italian boy has been on the court 18 minutes and 21 seconds, putting up 13 points, the result of an excellent 5 of 8 from the field, including 3 of 6 from long distance. The former Baskonia man also put up. 3 rebounds and 1 stoppage In the time given to him by the coach. The only negative note of his competition was the 2 lost balls.
Unfortunately, however, this performance by Fontecchio was not enough for the Utah Jazz to win at home to the Phoenix Suns of a 26-point, 7-assist Kevin Durant. In the end, the Arizona franchise prevailed over the Utah franchise by a score of 126 to 104, thus demolishing the Jazz’s dreams of victory.
The hope is that Fontecchio will start getting more and more into the Utah Jazz’s rotation and more and more against level-headed opponents such as the Phoenix Suns and not just back-to-back to rest the team’s most important players. We’ll see if that happens in the coming weeks for Gianmarco Pozzecco’s Italy leader.
