Rudy Gobert was immediately a factor in Game 1, as usual with great defense that limited even Nikola Jokic. However, the Frenchman, who could win his fourth Defensive Player of the Year award this week, was ranked in the past few hours as “questionable” for Race-2 tomorrow. Gobert’s possible absence is due to “personal reasons.”
Mystery dissolved within hours: Gobert and his fiancée, Julia Bonilla, became parents this morning, with the birth of their firstborn son. Because of this, Gobert was not sure if he would be present in Denver, as the woman gave birth in Minneapolis.
However, according to Dan Moore, a journalist who follows the Timberwolves, there would be optimism for Gobert’s presence. The Frenchman is expected to board a plane and arrive just in time for the two-game ball, which fortunately for him will be at 8 p.m. local time.
Asking around a bit about Rudy Gobert, and there seems to be optimism that Gobert will be able to get back by game time tonight. The later tip helps (8pm MT).
