I Phoenix Suns have been among the stars of the first hour of NBA free agency. After also bringing Bradley Beal to Arizona to form a trio with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, the franchise reached out to as many as five deals in a very short time.
These 5 agreements also include renewals, i.e., those of Josh Okogie (figures still unknown) and Damion Lee (minimum salary for 2 years). The former for defensive needs will probably also be a starter.
Then came the new faces, starting with the “possible Italian” Drew Eubanks. The long man signed a two-year deal, probably at minimum salary, after his adventure in Portland. It was then the turn of another long, Keita Bates-Diop, coming off a career-best season in San Antonio with 9.7 points and 3.7 rebounds average: signing for 2 years at $5 million total. Finally, the last addition (for now) was that of. Chimezie Metu. The Nigerian player arrives from the Sacramento Kings, where last season he played little while collecting 4.9 points and 3.0 rebounds on average. Minimum wage for him, too, for one year.
Side note: Just before midnight Italian time, the Suns withdrew the qualifying offer for center Jock Landale, which is therefore unrestricted free agent. With this move, Phoenix freed up salary space to complete other signings.
