On NBA night, Ben Simmons, Kawhi Leonard and Jamal Murray returned to the court.

It was just another night of NBA preseason, but there are numerous stories to tell. Having said Paul Banchero’s debut with some difficulty against the Memphis defense, there were also three very important returns to the court: those of Ben Simmons, Kawhi Leonard, and Jamal Murray..

Simmons was looking right at it against his Philadelphia 76ers, returning after more than a year’s absence due to a breakup with his old franchise and some back problems once he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. The Australian started immediately in the quintet alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, although in the end the Nets lost 108-127 despite the absence of Joel Embiid on the other end. For Simmons there were 19′ on the court with good pace, in which he produced 6 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists with 3/6 shooting and (of course) zero threes attempted.

The Los Angeles Clippers re-embraced the George-Leonard duo against Portland in a 97-102 win. Kawhi immediately went into double figures with 11 points in 16′, also adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Leonard had been missing from the court since summer 2021 due to a torn ACL.

Finally, the Denver Nuggets were able to enjoy the return of Jamal Murray, who had been missing since April 2021 and also missed all of last season. The Canadian point guard took the court against the Oklahoma City Thunder, playing 14′ for 10 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists with 4/7 shooting and 2/3 from behind the arc.
