No active player has ever faced Sacramento in the playoffs

It may not seem true to you, but it is: no active player has ever faced the Sacramento Kings in the playoffs. That explains how badly the Kings have done over the past 20 years. The last time we saw them in the post season was way back in 2005-2006, when they lost 4-2 in the first round to the San Antonio Spurs.

Of course, it does not mean that all the players currently in the NBA were not there in 2006. Trivially LeBron James was already there. He never faced them during the playoffs, though, and let’s say LBJ has faced pretty much anyone during these (almost) 20 years in the NBA.

The downside is that there does not seem to be any growth for Sacramento. Sure, the arrival of Domantas Sabonis has raised the odds of seeing them even in the post regular season portion however the competition in the West is fierce. Let’s see if something will change and the miracle will happen, that is, Sacramento will make it to the playoffs.

Certainly it is a very curious statistic and one that captures all the mistakes at the executive level made over the past two decades. The hope for Sacramento fans is that this trend will be reversed presissimo, although it will not be easy….
