Nets want to widen trade for Irving: Fred VanVleet hypothesis from Toronto

I Brooklyn Nets in these hours are working to expand the trade that brought Kyrie Irving at Dallas Mavericks, not yet made official, and involve a third team. There is not much time, because the Mavs want to announce the trade today so they can have Irving available for the trip against the Clippers. One option, according to Marc Stein, would be to involve the Toronto Raptors.

In particular, the Nets would explore the possibility of turn Spencer Dinwiddie and draft picks over to the Raptors in exchange for Fred VanVleet. Brooklyn occupies one of the top positions in the East, and management does not want to waste this season by demolishing the team, partly to convince Kevin Durant to stay. VanVleet has a Player Option that could make him a free agent as early as next summer, and he is one of several Toronto players who could change jerseys before the trade deadline. The Nets would also be interested in Pascal Siakam, possibly.

This season VanVleet is scoring. 19.7 points average with 6.5 assists.
