The Naismith Hall of Fame is the highest honor in basketball circles: each year new people who have made basketball history are inducted, and the institution’s official profile has just officially released the names of the Class of 2024.
They will enter the Hall of Fame in 2024:
- Chauncey Billups, Mr. Big Shot, former 2004 NBA champion point guard with the Detroit Pistons Chauncey Billups
- Air Canada, Vincredible, Vince Carter
- Herb Simon, owner of the Indiana Pacers since 1983 and the WNBA’s Indiana Fever
- Michael Cooper, former Lakers star with a move also to Virtus Roma, 5-time NBA champion as a player and two-time WNBA champion as a coach
- Doug Collins, 4-time all-star player with the Sixers and former NBA head coach with nearly 900 games coached
- Walter Davis, the best scorer in Phoenix Suns history, who passed away last Nov. 2.
- Bo Ryan, former college coach for 15 years at Winsconsin
- Seimone Augustus, former WNBA player, 8-time all-star, 3 Olympic gold medalists, 4-time WNBA champion
- Michele Timms, former Phoenix Mercury player and coach in Australia and China
- Jerry West, for the third time in the Hall of Fame, this time for his contribution to the game (news here)
- Dick Barnett, 2-time NBA champion in the 1970s with the Knicks
- Harley Redin, former women’s collegiate basketball coach, who passed away in 2020
- Charles Smith, legendary high school coach in Louisiana, with a record of more than 1100 career wins
