Mannion always in quintet in Summer League but this time he doesn’t shine

Also playing tonight were the Nico Mannion’s Milwaukee Bucks in Summer League and also tonight the former Virtus Bologna player, now with Baskonia, started in the quintet and his team won its second game in a row out of two played.

25 minutes on the parquet for the Italian-American point guard with, however, a awful 0/9 from three-point range and 6 points on the scoreboard, the result of a 2/5 from two and 2/5 from the charity line.

Mannion failed to repeat his performance during the debut race in the Summer League in which he had scored. 16 points.

There is one positive, however, in the 84-75 win over Phoenix: the 6 assists. He proves to be a very good outside player in getting his teammates into action, somewhat as he had shown both with the Golden State Warriors and with Italbasket in Belgrade and Tokyo.

Let’s see if this abundant week in Las Vegas will allow him to get a call-up from coach Gianmarco Pozzecco for the World to be held in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.

Mannion’s next NBA Summer League contest with Minnesota will be Wednesday, 12 against the Brooklyn Nets.
