Magic Johnson excited about Lakers’ free agency: are they competitive again?

The Los Angeles Lakers have fared quite well in this free agency. After signing mostly veterans last year, the team decided to change course in the 2022 off-season. Their main acquisitions this time were younger prospects, such as Lonnie Walker IV and Thomas Bryant. These are not flashy moves, but they are solid pieces to build around their core. The Lakers’ steady bowling activity has caught the attention of Magic Johnson. In one of his classic tweets, Magic praised the Los Angeles Lakers’ signings this year. Here is what he had to say:

“With these free agent signings, the Los Angeles Lakers have gotten younger and more athletic! I am excited about the signing of Thomas Bryant. With his ability to shoot 3’s, he will create more space for LeBron and AD.”

“I like Lonnie Walker because he is big, strong and athletic. The Lakers have also made some great additions to the roster with Troy Brown Jr., Juan Toscano-Anderson and Damian Jones!”

Now what Magic Johnson wrote needs to be proven on the court as well. It will not be difficult to do better than this year as the Lakers have probably experienced the worst season in their history.
