Luka Doncic’s latest gift to Dallas Mavericks fans was a 3-pointer on Christmas night that allowed him to surpass 10,000 career points.
Doncic reached the milestone against the Phoenix Suns in his 358th career game, tying Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo for the seventh fewest games to reach 10,000 points.
Wilt Chamberlain was the fastest to reach 10,000 points in 236 games, followed by Michael Jordan (303), Elgin Baylor (315), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (319), Oscar Robertson (334), and George Gervin (355).
Luka Doncic entered the game 11 points shy of the 10,000 mark. He needed only 7 minutes to reach it, crossing the line with a three-pointer. At 24 years and 300 days, Doncic is the sixth youngest player to reach 10,000 points after LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady.
Doncic also became the fastest active NBA player to score 10,000 points. Joel Embiid held this record before him having reached 10,000 points in 418 games.
This is another incredible record for the career of someone who wants to win so much, starting with this year’s regular season MVP award.
