The Dallas Mavericks may be without Kyrie Irving for the foreseeable future after the starting guard injured his foot, but Luka Doncic’s presence alone is enough to calm the nerves of Mavs fans, who would like nothing more than for the team to continue to put last season’s disappointing finish behind them. And tonight it was Luka Doncic who lit it up thanks to his triples in the 120 to 113 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Slovenian boy led the Mavs with 35 points, putting the Grizzlies’ defense to the test with his continued mastery of scoring from all three levels. Although his shooting percentage was not great (9 of 21 at 42.8%), he shot 50% from long distance on 10 attempts and, in doing so, accomplished an epic three-point feat that not even the greatest three-point shooter of all time, Stephen Curry, was able to do.
Luka Doncic made his 1,000th career three-pointer, becoming the second-fastest player in NBA history to do so. The Mavs outfielder managed to join the 1,000 club in just 351 games, ahead of Indiana Pacers shooter Buddy Hield, who accomplished this incredible feat in exactly one less game than Doncic.

In addition to being the second-fastest player to cross the 1,000 triples mark, Luka Doncic also became the youngest player in NBA history to achieve this record for triples, at 24 years and 287 days.
