LeBron James will get out of his current contract with the Lakers in the summer!

LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers are going through a very good moment of form: in the night ended against the Timberwolves a series of 10 consecutive victories, which brought the yellowviola into the group of 5 teams (Suns, Pelicans, Kings, Lakers and Warriors) fighting for the last playoff spots and play in, since from the sixth to the eleventh place are all enclosed within 3 lengths.

LeBron James is also partly already with his mind on the upcoming season, particularly with regard to a important nuance of his contract: ESPN’s NBA insider Brian Windhorst reported a rumor that would see LeBron James’ willingness to insert a no-trade clausee, or a clause that would prevent the Lakers from selling him via trade; his current contract does not have this clause, and the only way to insert it is to get out of his current contract and sign another one, which will probably be two years with an option for a third. LeBron James is currently in his first year, out of two total, of his contract with the Lakers and has precisely a player option exploitable for next year, but will probably not exercise it.

LeBron James’ desire to insert a no-trade clause comes from rumors circulated during the season of a possible trade, with the Golden State Warriors interested in pairing him with Steph Curry: the rumors have been so persistent that Rich Paul, James’ agent, had to deny them stating that his client had no intention of requesting a trade from the Lakers.

This season, LeBron James has reached 40 thousand points scored in his career, the first (and probably only) player in history to do so, and is holding averages of 25.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 8.2 sisters per game.
