LeBron James was in doubt for Friday night’s Los Angeles Lakers showdown against Ja Morant’s Memphis Grizzlies due to ankle wear and tear. But James eventually took the court and looked his usual self. In a 123-120 win for the Lakers, James finished with 37 points, two of which came in thunderous fashion late in the game.
With the Lakers leading by only three points, 121-118, with 10 seconds left, the Grizzlies had the ball to tie the game. James, however, closed out the game in resounding fashion. He recovered a loose ball and pushed the Lakers’ lead to five insurmountable points with five seconds left with his trademark reverse jam.
Evidently amused, James paused for a little deflection in front of the Grizzlies’ bench. LeBron James was then joined by Ja Morant who, with a small smile on his face, decided to playfully push James as King performed in front of them.

The Lakers surely would have preferred to close out the game early against a very depleted Grizzlies team. But there are worse ways to close out the game, and it’s a treat to see LeBron James not only pull off an exhilarating dunk at age 39, but also interact in this playful way with Ja Morant, another exciting athlete.
