It is no secret that Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is good friends with Chris Paul. It is also known that among his banana boat mates (along with Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony), it is now only Paul with whom LeBron has not had the opportunity to be teammates. Well, this might become a reality in the near future after the Phoenix Suns decided to cut CP3 from their roster.
Another of LeBron’s former teammates, Kendrick Perkins, is all-in on the prospect of Chris Paul going to the Lakers. In his mind, Big Perk believes that LeBron would benefit significantly from adding CP3 to his team:
“Chris Paul to the Lakers would shake up the league. Do you know why? We’ve heard LeBron James talk about retirement, and we know damn well he’s not going anywhere. But what it made me realize is that he’s losing some motivation right now. Pairing up with one of his great friends, CP3, would give him that extra quid to say, ‘You know what, I’m excited to come back next season.’ “
Perkins went on to point out that it’s really not just about LeBron. Anthony Davis would also be a big beneficiary of Paul’s potential arrival as he matches AD with a Hall of Fame-level point guard:
“The last time the Lakers won a championship, I can’t stress enough the importance of Rajon Rondo to Anthony Davis. Can you imagine CP3 and AD in the pick-and-roll? They would be so dangerous!”.
“Chris Paul to the Lakers would shake up the league … We heard LeBron James talking about retirement … But what it did make me realize is that is he losing a little motivation right now? … CP3 would be the missing piece.”
