Who in their right mind wants to be the one responsible for removing a bat during a game, if and when such a circumstance occurs? Manu Ginobili has retired, and since “Bat-Manu” has been in charge of such problems in the past, all that remains is to turn the task over to the Spurs’ mascot, Coyote. But don’t expect Keldon Johnson to do anything about the bat.
“I’m almost afraid of the dark … It’s not really my world … Manu Ginobili caught the bat, he had to take some shots. I assure you, I don’t want to do that… Coyote had protection, he had the full costume on.“
Keldon Johnson when asked if he thought about going after the bat during last night’s Spurs-Timberwolves game 😆
“I’m borderline scared of the dark… That ain’t really up my alley… Manu [Ginobili] caught the bat, he had to get some shots. I’m letting you I don’t wanna do… https://t.co/kQO1uy6D0z pic.twitter.com/jbGKA4fxf2

During his meeting with the media, Keldon Johnson said he was “borderline afraid of the dark,” and I get it, I wouldn’t have tried to catch that bat either, so I would have done the same thing if I were in his shoes. Johnson finished the game with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 stoppages. Devin Vassell led the Spurs with 25 points and Victor Wembanyama put up a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds, the 21st of his rookie season.
