Joel Embiid defers MVP decider with Nikola Jokic: endless teasing

Tonight the Denver Nuggets have beaten 116-111 the Philadelphia 76ers.

It should have been the challenge between Nikola Jokic e Joel Embiid, the two players most credited for the award of MVP of the regular season. Instead, the confrontation did not take place because the Sixers’ center deserted the challenge due to a physical problem he had in the finishing touches.

Nothing serious but the player, coach Doc Rivers and the medical staff decided on precautionary rest as the Playoffs approached. “After shootaround he felt a stiffening in his calf. – explained the coach – and we didn’t want to risk it. Everyone wants to see Joel and Nikola against each other, but we have to take it slow and act smart: we want Embiid, like the whole team, to be healthy in the playoffs.”

Many, however, accused Embiid of shying away from the comparison with the Serbian, who put up a triple-double of 25 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists. Among them Kevin Garnett who pointed to Jokic as his favorite for the MVP palm.

Very funny mockery devised by the fans of the Nuggets. In Denver, a series of signs indicating Embiid as a missing person. Distinguishing marks? “Never MVP, never placed in All-NBA first quintet, high,” read the inscriptions to remind us of the Camurenite’s lack of individual awards.

In fairness, it must be said that in the previous season’s showdown with Jokic, Embiid literally dominated with 47 points and 18 rebounds.
