Jaren Jackson Jr. won Defensive Player of the Year

As might be expected, the big favorite of the viglia is also the one who takes home the Defensive Player of the Year 2023: Jaren Jackson Jr.. At the end of a season capped off as the NBA’s best stopper, with 3.0 stoppages average, JJJ was awarded ahead of Brook Lopez, second, and Evan Mobley, third. The DPOY, won by Jackson Jr for the first time, is the first individual award to be given, the others will follow in the coming weeks, until the MVP.

In addition to stoppages, JJJ also added 1.0 rebounds per game. These are the voting results, with Draymond Green fourth and Bam Adebayo fifth:
