Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors are trying to find a way into the NBA Western Conference playoff picture, currently ranked 9th and poised to participate in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
On the latest edition of Gil’s Arena podcast, Gilbert Arenas revealed the truth about Draymond Green’s role with the Warriors:
Draymond Green maybe doesn’t score 20 points a night but he defends, stoppages, dishing out about 5-6 assists a contest and grabs quite a few rebounds… however, when they don’t win we just like to say ‘Alright, fuck it, forget it, Draymond, it’s your fault.’ “, Gilbert Arenas said about Draymond Green.
“We know Draymond don’t score 20…Defend, deflections, get about 5-6 assists, get some rebounds…That’s what we expect. But when it don’t turn to wins, we just like “Alright, f**k it, Draymond, it’s your fault.”

While it’s true that Green doesn’t often light up the scoring with eye-popping numbers, he helps the Warriors in a myriad of ways. Whether it’s his defense, the right play on offense or being a voice in the locker room, Green is a key cog in a team that has won four NBA titles.
During his time away from the Warriors due to the suspension imposed by the league earlier this season, the 34-year-old Green has maintained regular communication with substitute Jonathan Kuminga. Green provided detailed feedback after each game with messages containing notes, video clips and voice reminders regarding the young man’s performance. And today, in fact, Kuminga has markedly improved since September.
