Gabriele Procida commented on the trade that brought him to the Jazz: “I had just woken up from my nap…”

Gabriele Procida a week or so ago he was traded by the Detroit Pistons, who held the rights to him after selecting him at the 2022 Draft with call #36 (via Portland), to the Utah Jazz. In the exchange Simone Fontecchio, his national teammate, ended up in Detroit where he has already played 3 games.

So far Procida has never set foot in the NBA, but it is likely that at some point in the next few years he will. This season he is having space in the EuroLeague at Alba Berlin, with whom he is scoring 8.6 points on average.

Interviewed by Pierluigi Pardo for DAZN Got Game, DAZN’s basketball format, Procida told how he found out about the trade and how he took it:

“Being traded gas? Well, oh my gosh… When I found out I was in bed, I had just woken up from my afternoon nap! My agent, who is the same as Simone, called me and said ‘You go to Utah and Fontecchio goes to Detroit.’ I told him not to talk nonsense, I didn’t believe it. I thought it was a joke. I’m happy though, they told me Utah is a super organization so I’m so happy to be a part of it. We’ll see how it evolves between now and the end of the season, but I’m positive.” Procida stated.
