Erik Spoelstra signs BIGGEST coaching contract in NBA history

Erik Spoelstra is considered one of the best coaches in the NBA and is set to remain with the Miami Heat for the foreseeable future.

According to reports from Shams Charania of The Athletic, Spoelstra has signed a lucrative new deal to remain the franchise’s head coach.

Spoelstra has agreed to an eight-year, $120 million extension with the Heat, making it the largest coaching contract in NBA history, adds ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

A two-time NBA champion in 2012 and 2013, Spoelstra has led the Heat to two NBA Finals appearances in the past four seasons. The 53-year-old specialist is widely regarded as one of the game’s best tacticians, who manages to instill the Heat’s famous culture in the players.

Spoelstra is ranked the 19th winningest coach of all time with 1231 career wins.

Let’s see if in the next 8 years the coach who helped LeBron James win his first 2 rings can improve his score, thus reaching at least 3 and leading Jimmy Butler to win what would be his first NBA title.
