Spoelstra has agreed to an eight-year, $120 million extension with the Heat, making it the largest coaching contract in NBA history, adds ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
A two-time NBA champion in 2012 and 2013, Spoelstra has led the Heat to two NBA Finals appearances in the past four seasons. The 53-year-old specialist is widely regarded as one of the game’s best tacticians, who manages to instill the Heat’s famous culture in the players.
Spoelstra is ranked the 19th winningest coach of all time with 1231 career wins.
Let’s see if in the next 8 years the coach who helped LeBron James win his first 2 rings can improve his score, thus reaching at least 3 and leading Jimmy Butler to win what would be his first NBA title.
