Donovan Mitchell away from the Jazz? Joe Ingles overjoyed with this choice 😂

For years, Donovan Mitchell and Joe Ingles were two of the Utah Jazz’s most important players. However, the Jazz felt that their core led by Mitchell and Rudy Gobert had already peaked and eventually traded them to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves, respectively.

Indeed, no one could be happier that the Jazz decided to trade Donovan Mitchell than Joe Ingles.

Speaking to reporters after the Milwaukee Bucks’ 111-107 win over the New York Knicks, Ingles joked that he was thankful Spida is now playing for the Cavs because he will not surpass him as the Jazz franchise’s all-time leader in triples made.

“He’s still second in triples made in Utah Jazz history, so I’m glad he was traded.” Ingles told Brian Mahoney of The Associated Press.

Joe Ingles predicts cheers for Donovan Mitchell on Tuesday in his return to Utah for what he did on the court and the community.
“He’s still second in 3-pointers made in Jazz history, so I’m kind of glad he got traded,” adds Ingles, who made 113 more.

Of course, it helps Joe Ingles that he played three full seasons more for the Jazz than Donovan Mitchell, so the Australian sharpshooter had an advantage over him on the Utah Jazz’s all-time list of baskets made from long distance. In eight seasons with the Jazz, Ingles made 1,071 threes, 113 more than Mitchell (958) in 245 fewer games.

It is unfortunate that Ingles’ time in Utah ended under unfortunate circumstances, with the 35-year-old forward suffering a ruptured left ACL tendon. The Jazz then traded him for Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Juancho Hernangomez in the three-team trade that brought CJ McCollum to the New Orleans Pelicans.
