Tonight Luka Doncic had his best game as an NBA player, putting up 73 points with unprecedented efficiency numbers to lead the Dallas Mavericks in a 148 to 143 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. It may seem like an ordinary day to some, but yesterday marked the fourth year since the tragic passing of legendary Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, and throughout Doncic’s stellar performance, thoughts of honoring the Black Mamba were ever-present.
In fact, during the postgame press conference, Doncic revealed how much Kobe has meant and continues to mean to him. In addition, the Mavericks star expressed how special it is for him to put up the best point night of his NBA career so far on this date to honor what the great Lakers legend has meant to the game of basketball.
“It’s unbelievable, man. It’s very special. We all love Kobe. It was a great tragedy, I can’t believe it’s been four years already. So it’s special, you know, to feel on the same day. But of course I wish he was here.”, Doncic said about Kobe, via Landon Thomas of Mavs Fan For Life.
