Danilo Gallinari, here’s how many months he’ll have to sit out due to injury

Danilo Gallinari, wing for the national team and the Boston Celtics, was injured in the last 2023 World Cup qualifying game with our Italy against Georgia. Fortunately for him, the ACL held up, there was no rupture, however, he suffered a meniscal injury without ligamentous involvement and this will force him to be out for a long time.

After the first consultations at the Columbus clinic in Milan together with federal physician Raffaele Cortina, Gallinari appears to have it for about a couple of months, as reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport. This means he will miss all of training camp with the Boston Celtics and the first regular season games, returning to the court in the first half of November.

All in all, given the movement and initial terror, nothing serious was done. Of course, it is never good to get injured but it is part of the game and it is “normal” for this to happen for sportsmen who play more than 100 games each year. The hope of course is that he can return as early as the second half of October but it would not make sense to rush it for simple NBA regular season games.
