Danilo Gallinari changes jersey, Washington trades him to Detroit Pistons

Danilo Gallinari has not taken the field, by technical choice, since Dec. 28: Since then, the Washington Wizards have not given him any more minutes, giving more space to younger and more futuristic players, given the poor 7-31 record. Even before this DNP streak, the Rooster was on the starting list and just now Adrian Wojnarowski announced the trade that will take the Italian away from the US capital. Gallinari was traded to the Detroit Pistons along with Mike Muscala, in return Washington receives Marvin Bagley III, Isaiah Livers and two second-round draft picks.

The Pistons are currently the worst NBA team with only 3 wins on the season, have set the record for the most consecutive knockouts in a single season (28) and at this rate may even finish with the worst record ever (which now belongs to the Charlotte Bobcats). It is unclear if Gallinari will ever put on a Pistons jersey or if he will be cut, perhaps saying goodbye to his NBA career to return to Europe. Before he was sidelined by Coach Unseld in Washington, the Rooster was scoring 7.0 points on average after a year totally spent in the pits due to ruptured cruciate ligament.

The only happy note for Danilo Gallinari in this transfer is that if he stays with the Pistons, in Detroit he will find his brother Federico, Development Coach of the Motor City Cruise, in the G-League.
