I New York Knicks in recent hours have been shocked by the news of the relapse suffered by Julius Randle for his shoulder injury. Franchise star, 24.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists average this season, will not return in time for the Playoffs but will have permanent surgery on his shoulder.
As reported by Chris Haynes, in the healing process, once Randle had returned to contact training now about 5 weeks ago, he suffered a flare-up of the injury.
All-star Julius Randle’s last game this season now dates back to Jan. 27. Since then the long man has been in the infirmary, longer than expected. The Knicks are currently fifth in the Eastern Conference and are holding up all things considered, despite the absences of Randle and OG Anunoby. In Playoff optics, however, given the absence of the former Lakers and Pelicans they will certainly be more vulnerable, especially if Anunoby’s recovery also goes long.
The former Raptors player has played only 3 games since Jan. 27 and just this Monday the Knicks classified his injury as “right elbow tendinopathy.”
