The American tour of the Maccabi Ra’Anana it’s over. The Israeli team played the three games against as many NBA franchises, picking up three straight losses, as predicted.
These test matches made headlines in Italy for the illegitimate presence of Bruno Caboclo, a Brazilian center who is under contract with Reyer Venezia but has refused to come to Italy, preferring to play these friendlies with the goal of getting noticed by the NBA.
In the first match, lost 135-103 to the Brooklyn Nets, the former Ulm man put up 8 points with 7 rebounds in 26 minutes. In the second match, which finished 120-89 for the Cleveland Cavaliers, he scored 6 points with 9 rebounds and 2/8 shooting. Finally against the Minnesota Timberwolves, winners 138-111, Caboclo came close to a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Good numbers but probably not enough to get a contract in the NBA, more likely a G-League signing. But it will have to be seen if any American franchise will want to put in a player who, although in the FIBA area, still has a deal in place.
